# How do variant detection modes work?

Variant detection controls how hard the AI looks for every colour, size, and option on a page.

You'll find it under **Advanced** on the **Content** tab of your import options. It only appears once **Import variants (if present)** is ticked, so if you can't see the setting, check that first.

* `Balanced` (default): reliable for most standard product pages.
* `Aggressive`: prioritises finding the maximum number of variants and may include inferred options. Best for pages with complex or JavaScript-heavy variant pickers.
